Darren Gillis is an award-winning Australian country music artist whose authentic songwriting is inspired by real life, personal experiences, and the people he meets along the way. In 2024, Darren embarked on his first major tour through Western Australia’s Wheatbelt and Midwest, performing at caravan parks, hotels, festivals, and community events. His journey quickly gained momentum when he won the Lancelin Busker’s Festival before being invited to compete at the Chapman Valley Country Music Festival, where he was crowned the 2024 Emerging Artist after completing an intensive songwriting workshop.

Driven by a lifelong dream, Darren set off on a national touring adventure to the Tamworth Country Music Festival in early 2025, performing throughout South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. During Tamworth, he was selected as a Top Five finalist in the prestigious 2TM Discovered competition and performed across multiple festival stages, sharing the event with some of Australia’s biggest country music names.

His momentum continued with the 2025 Western Australian Country Music Awards, where he received the People’s Choice Award, followed by a Top Five finalist placing in the WAM Song of the Year Awards (Outstanding Regional Category) for his original song Cuss the Black Dog.

Beyond the stage, Darren is passionate about giving back to regional communities. One of his proudest achievements was organising the “Tambellup Needs a New Ambulance” Country Music Fundraiser, which attracted more than 200 attendees and raised over $17,000 for Saint John Ambulance, with every dollar donated directly to the local community.

In 2026, Darren’s growing reputation on the national country music scene was recognised when he was named Best Independent Country Male Artist at the Independent Country Music Association Awards during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Darren has released several original singles that have featured on country radio charts across Australia. His song Drink was showcased on Country Music Television and reached the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition, further cementing his reputation as an emerging songwriter and performer.
